This is a story about a kid from the slums of Mumbai getting on the show Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. That's really all there is to it, but this movie is a lot more complex than it seems.
It starts out with the guy winning lots of money on the show and being arrested on suspicion of fraud. The movie is basically him telling the cops how he knew the answers.
This all being said, the movie is haunting and devastating and hopeful and beautiful.
It is a series of events. Just a series of events. It is rated R because those events are often intensely unpleasant.
If you're not vehemently opposed to seeing rated R movies, this is one to see. I give it 3 1/2 out of 4 stars. It really does deserve all the accolades it gets.

heath: not to be offensive, but the prophet really did tell us not to watch rated R movies :)

No he didn't. I promise. ;)
Whether you watch R-rated movies or not, the amount of hope this movie offered me was not enough to compensate for the amount of despair I also felt while watching it. I resent this movie for shattering my 'ignorance is bliss' existence.
Wonderfully written and quite poignant in its message, but I'll never watch it again.
